No.25 Village Life
Once upon a time the little girl was born in an area of the country that is well known for picturesque hillside villages. Villages that are made up of pretty cottages that seem to tumble down into the valleys. Narrow roads and tracks winding between the little houses and up onto the commons where vehicles have to dodge cattle. Road that at times get so narrow it seems as if they will disappear entirely.
The little girl left the area when she was just a baby but regularly visited family there. These visits were always exciting and happy occasions, spoilt by grandparents and playing with cousins, with a backdrop of homes made from distinctive warm, golden limestone. The colour of the stone seemed to accentuate the attractiveness of the villages and towns. The little girl would wondered if the people who lived there knew just how beautiful it was or if they just became use to it. It seemed impossible to the little girl that it could ever be “ordinary”. Exposed to such pretty cottages and villages it is no wonder the little girl grew up to find drawing little houses so enjoyable.
