No.20 Fruit Puddings
The little girl always enjoyed playing in the garden of her home. She also enjoyed playing in the garden when she visited her grandparents. Both sets of her grandparents had large, adventurous gardens. Both had apple trees to climb, with fruit to collect and both had greenhouses to play in. The little girl didn’t have a green house at home. She liked to go in and out of the greenhouses pretending they were actual real houses, pretending they were where she lived. The little girl would climb the tree to collect some apples and then carry them “home” to her greenhouse.
There were fruit bushes too and the little girl would collect raspberries, strawberries, and the very tiny wild strawberries. So sweet! All would be collected and taken into the greenhouse to eat. Some of the fruit needed to be cooked, the blackcurrants, the gooseberries, and she would be tasked with bringing them to the kitchen. The little girl was happy to do this as she knew that apple and blackcurrant crumble would follow, or gooseberry pies with custard. The smell of these fruits and puddings would forever transport her back to those happy summer days.
